Licensing, Explained
Arizona licenses septic work in two separate ways. Installing, replacing, or repairing a septic system requires a contractor holding an Arizona Registrar of Contractors CR-41 ("Septic Tanks and Systems") license — ask for it and verify it yourself at azroc.my.site.com. Routine tank pumping is licensed separately, through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality's septage hauler program, not the ROC — a pumping-only company won't show up in an ROC contractor search, and that's expected, not a red flag.
